Calculate the amount of sand needed for a paver base bedding layer.
Formula
Volume (cu yd) = L × W × D(ft) ÷ 27; Tons = cu yd × 1.35; 50 lb bag ≈ 0.67 cu ft
- Standard bedding sand depth: 1 inch (25 mm).
- 1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet. Sand density ≈ 1.35 t/cu yd.
- Add 10% for waste and settling.
