Adjusted time = Total length ÷ Speed; Days = Adjusted time ÷ Daily listening
- The audiobook's total length in minutes is divided by your playback speed to get the real time you'll spend listening.
- At 1.5× speed a 10-hour audiobook takes about 6 hours 40 minutes; at 2× it takes 5 hours.
- Days to finish divides the adjusted listening time by how many minutes you listen per day.
- Time saved is the difference between the original length and the sped-up listening time.

A 10-hour (600-minute) audiobook at 1.5× takes 600 ÷ 1.5 = 400 minutes, or 6 hours 40 minutes. Listening 60 minutes a day, you'll finish in about 6.7 days and save 200 minutes versus normal speed.
Frequently asked questions
How does playback speed change listening time?
Listening time equals the audiobook's length divided by the speed multiplier. At 1.5× you finish in two-thirds of the original time; at 2× in half.
How long will an audiobook take at 1.5× or 2×?
Divide the total length by the speed. A 10-hour book is about 6 h 40 m at 1.5× and exactly 5 hours at 2×.
How many days will it take me to finish?
The calculator divides the sped-up listening time by the minutes you listen each day, so more daily listening means fewer days.
Does faster playback hurt comprehension?
Many listeners adapt to 1.25×–1.5× with little loss of understanding, but very high speeds can reduce comprehension, especially for dense or unfamiliar material. Choose a speed you can follow comfortably.
How do I enter an audiobook that is, say, 9 hours 45 minutes?
Put 9 in the hours field and 45 in the extra-minutes field; the calculator adds them before applying your playback speed.
