8-Hour Shift End Time Calculator

This calculator tells you when an 8-hour shift finishes. Enter your start time and it adds 8 hours to give the clock time you clock off. It is handy for standard workdays and office hours when you want a quick finish-time check, including shifts that run past midnight.

Formula

End Time = Start Time + 8 hours
  • The finish time is simply the start time plus 8 hours, with no break added.
  • Times use a 24-hour clock, so a 09:00 start ends at 17:00.
  • If 8 hours pushes the time past midnight, the result wraps to the next day.
  • Add any unpaid break separately if you want the time you actually leave.
  • Only the start time changes the result; the shift length is fixed at 8 hours.

Example Calculation

Inputs
  • Shift Start Time (HH:MM): 09:00

Starting at 09:00 and adding an 8-hour shift gives a finish time of 17:00 (5:00 PM).

Frequently asked questions

How does this find my shift end time?
It takes the start time you enter and adds 8 hours to give the clock time your shift finishes.
Does it add a break?
No. It adds exactly 8 hours. If you take an unpaid break, add that time on top to get when you actually leave.
Does it handle shifts past midnight?
Yes. A late start such as 20:00 wraps around to 04:00 the next morning.
What time format should I use?
Enter the start time on a 24-hour clock as HH:MM, for example 09:00 or 14:30.
Can I use it for any 8-hour day?
Yes. It works for any standard 8-hour shift or workday, day or night.
